Chandelier for the kitchen

Sharing is caring!

I want to share with you how I made a chandelier for your kitchen.

A bit of prehistory. During the move to a new apartment, I “successfully” broke one of the chandeliers. It was a cover in the form of a ball. Foot, of course, did not throw away and thought “in the economy anything goes” stashed before the event πŸ™‚
That’s pretty and she:

Event has occurred, we needed a chandelier for the kitchen. The stores do not choose the right and then in my hands gets here is a “miracle” πŸ™‚ (gives just enough to improvise something).

View from inside:

I do not know how to call it prettier, but this thing had hung like a lamp at the factory or something like that.

And then I fear, to connect my leg with this lamp, in order to get the chandelier. Cut off all unnecessary lamps with wire and fasteners removed.

Since the kitchen we have a yellow-green color scheme with gold accessories, the chandelier is done to match the kitchen.

Let’s get started.

To prepare for decorating chandeliers, we need:

1 Sandpaper (I used not the toughest).

2 primer on old paint (this is optional, it dries 24 hours, if you wish – can be applied, I did not cause, without it, too, all splendidly). Photos just in case anyone is interested:

3 The most common sponge for surface staining chandeliers.

4 Paint (I have a matte paint, which was used for the walls in the repair of the kitchen).

5 Wallpaper paste (in my case). To use it, as we now have it in abundance. You can use PVA glue or some other suitable for gluing fabric to the metal.

6 bowl of glue.

7 The adhesive for bonding decorative elements (the one that I chose, initially white, after drying it becomes clear).

In the photo example of wallpaper paste and the fact that I pasted decor:

For decor, we need:

1 White fabric (mine is cotton, you can use another).

2 Tape metallized.

3 Artificial leaves.

4 Wooden ladybugs (my Velcro).

5 Polubusiny (I 6mm diameter).

6 Artificial flowers (in this case, the calla latex).

7 stamens for flowers.

Getting Started.

First, we need to clean the surface of the lamp sandpaper.

Next, cover it with a primer on old paint (again, optional).

After the primer is completely dry (24 hours), you can start wrapping our lamps cloth. I had the idea to make the folds of cloth.

Dilute glue in the correct proportions (it took me about 600ml diluted glue) and moisten it well tissue. Cloth is better to cut to shreds, which is easier to form a crease.

Next, lay the fabric on the lamp:

That part of the tissue that remains free, wrap the inside, as we all pasted over the lamp and the outside and the inside.

After wrapping it turns out here the following picture:

Expels air bubbles by hand, smoothing the surface.

Next put to dry. You can here this way (I put the lamp on the foam core).

And it is possible to accelerate the process and the drying will take no more than 1 hour πŸ™‚

Put our lamp in the oven, on the grill. I do not advise on a baking sheet, or inside it is completely dry.

Heat the oven to 70-80 degrees and keep the lamp there for about 10 minutes, then turn off the oven, slightly opened it and wait another 10 minutes I have left a total of three such approaches.

After drying, the lamp looks like this:

While she is not attractive πŸ™‚

In the process of laminating cloth top hole where the stem is attached, closed, so it needs to be cut:

Everything is ready for the next step – painting.

Do not forget to set the table to avoid staining.

And start with a sponge blotted movements to apply paint to the entire surface (inside too).

Fully painted lamp:

That paint, I used to dry for 1 hour. After the first coat has dried, cover with another layer of the lamp, as in some places all the same made by the traces of rust. We are waiting for the complete drying.

Do not forget to paint the lower part of the leg in the same color, so that it did not stand out in the overall picture.

After the paint has dried, you connect the leg lamp.

It remains to add decor πŸ™‚

The whole composition I is located on one side, you, if you want, place a decoration to your liking.

To begin with glue leaves:

Then glue the stamens. To do this, add them twice. I used 2 strands of yellow and green:

Then the flowers.

Before you glue them – cut off the leg, leaving 3-4 mm from the flower and fold it on the “back”:

Clay did not regret.

Now add ladybugs. I took them with velcro and stick to the same adhesive:

Decorate with ribbons (glue them under the leaves)

The final touch – Β They take quite a bit, so as not to overload the picture. I taped 9sht (by 3pc in three places):

The end result:

Left to hang it in place πŸ™‚

That’s all, really hope that someone will come in handy option to create my chandelier!
