How to do applique from fabric

Now more and more people are fond of drawing/coloring in the style of mental and dudling. This in some cases very calms, and in others, on the contrary, helps to concentrate the maximum attention. So, I will say briefly and clearly. I decided to transfer it to feel.

For work we will need:

– picture, drawn in the style of dudling;

– base fabric;

– felt 1 mm thick;

– thread of a mulina of two colors;

– a white pencil;

– a needle and safety pins;

– patience (very important point

So, let’s get started.

I was inspired by this picture and I picked up the most similar colors (from my available) felt colors:

I suggest you an owl, which I drew, but you can use for this purpose another drawing.

In the photo above it is clear that I used two drawings – one for clarity, and the other for work. I cut out the details from the paper picture and then transferred them to feel. In order to transfer the owl pattern to the base fabric, I cut out the owl along the outer contour and wrapped it on the fabric with a white pencil. Then she cut out the first row of feathers from paper and cut them out of felt in the right amount. I remind you that this is “fetrodulling”, so mathematical accuracy is not required here, and you can cut it “by eye”.

In those places where the feathers have a black edging in the figure, we make feathers of two colors – I have this lilac and purple. Cut a few more rows of feathers.

First, we put the feathers on the picture, we look, whether everything looks good. And then we transfer the fabric to the fabric and begin sewing with three stitches that converge at the base of the feather (under the base is meant the place that hardly begins to overlap with the next row of feathers).

Next will be pictures taken at night, so I apologize for the quality of the color rendering.

Thus gradually fill all the wing of our bird.

Getting down to work on the head of the cat, we cut out our eyes and beak from our working picture and note their location on the fabric base.

We begin to fill the head with feathers from the periphery to the center. When the first row of the external contour of the head is filled, fill the part of the bridge of the nose.

In the photo below in the figure, the places that need to be filled in are filled in.

Gradually, patiently and accurately we revive our little girl

When the cavity is completely filled with feathers (the space for the beak can be left out), try on the eyes and the beak. The first version of the beak here for some reason I did not like, and I decided to stop for a second.

Sew seam eyes “back needle”, but the stitches did not have a hair’s breadth of each other, and at a short distance, to finally looked like a seam “forward needle”. In the same way, we sew the beak.

Now go to the branch with the leaves. I chose three different sizes of leaves and cut out 6 green leaves of the same size from green felt.

Apply to the base fabric, fix it with safety pins. Then we start sewing in the same way as the feathers.

When all the leaves are sewn, decorate them with triple stitches, like feathers.

Now, when the work on the leaves is finished, we form the contour of the branch. We embroider a white thread with a stalk.

I decided not to do the twig from above – in my opinion, it looks so perfect. If someone wants to make it to the end – I wish you a lot of patience and success!

I will be very happy if someone will use my master class. And I will be grateful for your husky
