Mirror “flower”: A weathered cardboard frame, cut into petals for a mirror while flower.
Mark the center of the box; draw a circle of radius 7.5 cm and another 19.6 cm.
If your compass is not large enough, make 2 holes in a strip of cardboard. One at one end in which you put a pin positioning, the other 19.6cm away, where you slide your criterion of mine.
Prick any point of the large circle and draw the petals.
To draw intermediate petals, measure the distance between two peaks petals; align the rule between this new point and the center of the circle. You get two new points that will allow you to plot intermediate petals.
Repeat the process again to form petals minis; Caution, do not draw them to the center.
Cut all the external forms of the flower. Tilt your cutter to the inside of each petal, your cup will be easier and clearer.
Then move your knife blade from the center on all plots to slightly incise cardboard (about 1mm deep)
then move the cutter blade to about 2mm all incisions. You will create a channel to emphasize the shapes of the petals.
Remove the tip of the cutter cardboard strips.
Skip the bone folder in each groove to make them neat.
NB If you have difficulty removing the strips of cardboard, is that you do not have enough dug cardboard. Feel free to board the cutter blade.
Do not panic, if you cut too cardboard, glue a piece of kraft behind the petal!
Spend some fine sandpaper where the petals are a bit ungainly to harmonize your card.
Cut a 14.5 cm diameter cardboard circle. At the center of this circle, cut a square of 17 x 17 cm which will be inserted in the mirror and backing board with the fastener.Paste the cardboard back of the flower.
Place a layer of white acrylic paint on the flower. Be sure to “soft” painting and still pass the brush brush from the center outward. This layer of paint is the basis for our patina.
Let dry at least 15 minutes.
Prepare a piece of cardboard or palette, a little paint of each primary color.
We begin with a primary yellow passage.
Always from the center with the brush and move the water without pulling the paint outward. Do not try to “paint” the petals but just to have clearer and other darker areas.
By mixing the yellow with some red primary, you will spend a little orange on your petals. Do not try to have areas of regular paint. On the contrary.
Without leaving the paint to dry and once you have passed the orange petals 3, “pull” the paint with a damp sponge piece for us no longer see the brush marks.
Do this on all the flower.
Holding the brush brush straight, pass the paint in the grooves. Do not let dry.
immediately pass the sponge wet well the petals to spread the paint that exceeds gorges.Vous must tender this excess paint on each petal but always careful not to make your uniform petal.
At this stage, some areas are still white, or yellow or light orange
Add the dark red paint (by mixing yellow, red and blue primary peak) and move the brush on all lighter areas.Smooth the paint with a sponge.
To you add more red, yellow, orange to taste and if you want your flower or redder, more yellow or more orange.Feel free to experiment. You can always quickly wipe your brush strokes with wet sponge.
I always add at the end a color “in addition” that will give relief to my flower frame.
Here I added in some places small green paint keys (mix yellow and blue). Again, do not do all the petals and avoid symmetry ..
Paint all slices of burnt umber in petals or other color in brown or black. Also paint the inside edge of the circle cm and at least on the back of the carton because the mirror will reflect the inner edges of the circle.
Place a layer of matte varnish on the flower and let dry at least 48 hours.
Assembling together with a piece of craft the bottom board and the mirror.
Glue the back of the flower. Consolidate around with Kraft stuck to the glue.
You can paint the back of your flower with leftover paint or glue strips of paper if you wish.
