Fill green Grinch Candy Cups with your favorite Christmas candy and serve them at your holiday party or package them to give as gifts.
The Grinch really made an impact on me when I was a kid.
His transformation from a mean spirited grouch to a kindhearted guy was inspirational.
Like most kids, I knew a few grouchy grownups, and I always dreamed their hearts would grow three sizes and that they’d become sweet instead of sour.
Seeing the possibility within Grinch, gave me hope.
To celebrate the sweet guy that the Grinch became, I turned him into edible candy cups which I filled with Christmas candies.
Each candy cup is made using the same technique I used to create my Peppermint Bark Balloon Bowlsthat I shared with you last week. Small balloons are dipped in chocolate, or in this case, Candy Melts, allowed to dry, then are separated from the balloon.
Being the candy cups are fairly easy to make, I thought it would be fun to decorate them and turn them into the Grinch
GRINCH CANDY CUPS
Ingredients:
green Candy Melts*
yellow mega candy buttons
red and black food coloring markers
*Each candy cup will use about 1 ounce of the Green Candy Melts, but you’ll need more so that you can dip the last few balloons. So, melt at least 6 ounces more.
You can find these ingredients on Amazon.com (commission earned for sales)
Supplies:
small balloons**
**If you have concerns about latex allergies, don’t make these using latex balloons.
Instructions:
Pour the Green Candy Melts into a microwave safe bowl. Heat on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Heat for another 30 seconds and stir. Heat for 15 second increments, stirring after each, until melted.
Blow up your balloons so they are the size of a small apple.
Dip in the candy melts. covering the balloon to about an inch from the top. You will need tall candy cups so that you have room to add the Grinch’s face.
Remove and allow the excess candy to drip off. Set on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Set in the freezer for 3 minutes.
Remove and cut a small hole near the tied tip of the balloon and allow the air to escape. Pull up on the balloon and peel it out of the candy cup.
Draw red pupils onto yellow mega candy buttons. Attach two eyes using melted green candy melts.
Draw on eyebrows, a nose, and a mouth using a black food coloring marker.
If you prefer, you can draw on the eyes using yellow food coloring markers. Just be sure to let the black food coloring dry before applying the yellow or your eyes will smudge.
Once you get your candy cups decorated as you like, you can fill them with your favorite Christmas candy.Â
