Today’s tutorial is how to make a sewing kit with a cardboard box and is that although we especially do not like sewing, you need to have on hand some basic supplies that we can get out of any trouble. Needles and thread, pins, scissors and some buttons and safety pins sure we will be useful at some point.
Using cardboard and fabric can convert any box in a sewing kit, and so doing to our liking and according to our needs.
The first step is to choose a nice box. The box I have used have found in Livingo.es.
Livingo is a portal dedicated to selling furniture and home accessories and section storage boxes, plus this beautiful retro briefcase that I have chosen, there are plenty of options that can be used to make a beautiful, practical sewing kit.
This is how you do it:
We started by lining the inside of the box with fabric, for which we will use a thin but sturdy cardboard that cover with a pretty fabric. If necessary we draw a template using tissue paper and then moved to the board. Before we line the carton we ensure that the piece fits perfectly into our box.
We cut a piece of fabric having a little leeway and hot glue gun glue the fabric from the back of the cardboard.
The top of the box has to have a small pad to stick needles and pins. We set the pad with a button sew across the board. Also through the cardboard we give a small stitches at the four corners of the pad to leave well fixed.
Once the top of the box, the paste with hot silicone. To the bottom of the case we proceed in the same way. We prepare a carton that fits, so we line fabric and paste it in the background. Similarly we line the sides of the box.
As the box carries a tray on top, we have to put some small stops for the tray does not leak to the bottom.
To cover small baskets pieces cut two pieces of cardboard the size we need and a piece of fabric a little larger.
We glued the fabric around the cardboard and then folded in half and stick the two cartons together. That will be a cardboard rectangle topped well everywhere.
The next step is to perform tray top couturier. Cut the cardboard base and sides and all necessary pieces of cardboard to make the separations we want. To make the tray separations cut pieces of cardboard in pairs, to cover them as we have seen in the previous step.
We started making the line the base tray. To the tray is well finished the fabric we line on both sides. First we line one side folding the fabric on the back, as we have done with other cards. To cover the other side had a stitch on a piece of fabric with the shape of the carton, we cut the excess fabric behind and paste.
The side of the tray is covered with a piece of cloth that we turn to cover both sides. We stuck with a thin strip of silicone hot just at the edges and then cut the excess fabric. Let hitting this strip slowly right on the edge of the base.
When the outline is finished adjust the size of the cards that we have prepared for separations, we line and paste into your site.
The sewing is finished and we just have to put sewing tools.
