Book binding method

In order to make their own hands a notebook, we need:
For unit – paper (office, in the box, etc.)
flyleaf paper (thick cardboard, watercolor, etc.)
strong thread, needle,
ruler,
gauze (bandage can be replaced)
waxed paper (small piece)
PVA glue “Ray” (or any other adhesives for bookbinding) or moments
Brush glue, soft mat, breadboard knife or cutter;
To cover – thick cardboard, PVA glue and / or torque,
cover paper (paper for scrapbooking, watercolor, pastels, etc.)
tape, decorative elements as desired.
Stage I – do block.
1) Cut the paper of any format (2 times more desired format, notepad), do scoring, folded small notebooks for 5-6 pcs. (Depending on paper weight) – Photo 1.
2) Prepare a notebook crosslinking. Mark 1st notebook (A) and to make a hole in the middle of a turn, from it at equal distances (up to 4-5 cm) to make two or four holes with pins (the number of holes depends on the format of the book) – Picture 2.

Take a second notebook (B) and fold to make the first (A), on her side, and mark the middle point, to make punctures – photo 3.
And so on for all remaining notebooks for the block (better dub on the first book). The unit is ready. Sizing seam glue (photo 13) and put under the press (until the glue dries)

While drying unit, prepare end papers – 2 pcs. Cut construction paper the desired size and do scoring (foto14). Smear glue at a distance of 1 cm from the fold (the rest of the camouflage draft) – Photo 15. Glue bookends to the unit (photo 16) and put under the press.

After drying the block was equal to 3 sides (photo 17) Prototyping using a knife or a cutter. You can cut sanding if there is unevenness.

Glue gauze (in small amounts can be replaced with a bandage) – Photo 18. At the root block need to paste wax paper or cheesecloth to close completely (wax paper can be replaced with kraft paper or ordinary office). Try to apply less adhesive to avoid deformation flyleaf.

Stage II. We are making trouble. Dimensions cover is calculated as follows. Height = height of the cover unit + 1 cm, width = cover width of the block + 0.5 cm. Cut the cover 2. Dimensions root shall be as follows: height = height of unit + 1 cm, width = thickness of block + thickness of cardboard (photo 19).

Spread on paper for the cover of our carton blanks as follows: departing from the edge of 1.5 cm between the covers and the spine of 0.5 cm (photo 20) and draw out a pencil (so it was not adhered errors). Smear glue cardboard and glue (photo 21).

Corners can be counted on two ways – photos 22 and 23.

Once the glue is dry, glue the ribbon (the same way you can stick gum, only do it on the back cover). To do this, we make an incision at a distance of 7-8 mm from the edge equal to the thickness of the tape, insert the tape and the inside of the glue Moment glue (photo 24).

How dry the cover and block glue them together. First glue the back flyleaf. To do this, we put bookend draft and coat with glue. Draft remove and putting a block to the inside of the cover (photo 25) and moves the block adjacent to the spine (denser than in the photo 26).

Also glue the second bookend and put under pressure (under the pressure of keeping about 10 minutes, then weaken and dry glue). The blank notebook ready – Photo 27. Decorate the cover and endpapers, iron tape and tying a bow. We admire the result.
