Stones, glass beads and even broken plates and mugs can become part of your mosaic masterpiece. MATERIALS:

Terracotta flower pots
Tiles or broken china pieces
Tile cutters
Polymer-fortified thin-set mortar
Sanded group
Hammer
Butter knife
Gloves
Wire brush and cloth
Buckets for mixing mortar and grout

STEP 1
Wrap a tile in a cloth, glazed side down, and strike it with a hammer. Lay out the pieces and modify with tile cutting pliers as needed. Then chalk the design layout onto the pot

STEP 2
Mix a polymer-fortified thin-set mortar with water until it’s the consistency of peanut butter. Spread it on one tile piece at a time with a butter knife and stick the tile to the pot. Repeat, leaving space between pieces as shown. Let set overnight.

STEP 3
Mix sanded grout with water to the consistency of peanut butter. Wearing gloves, slather the grout liberally over the pot’s surface, rubbing it into the spaces. Wipe off excess with a wire brush and cloth. Allow drying. Seal grout if desired.
