Recycled egg carton craft flower box

I sort of feel like a rock star when I turn what would be trash into a treasure! I love how I was able to recycle this egg carton and transform it into a rustic conversation piece. Adorable paper flowers are showcased in this egg carton craft! It only took a few craft items that you probably already have on hand and an empty egg carton.

To begin your egg carton craft, select the colors you would like for your flowers. I chose aqua, red, yellow and a moss green.

Using a die cut machine and flower die, cut the flower components. You could also use an electronic cutting machine, craft punches, or a template.

Make sure if you are using Core’dinations Tim Holtz Kraft-Core paper, the paper is placed on the die with the colored part facing downward.

Continue cutting the flowers, until you have six complete sets of flowers.

The unique aspect of Core’dinations cardstock- and why I love crafting with it, is that the core of the cardstock is a different color than the surface. When this cardstock is sanded, torn or embossed the core color comes through! This gives wonderful texture and dimension to your craft projects.

Lightly sand all components of the flowers. This allows the core color to come through (in this case, kraft), and makes the flowers wonderfully rustic.

Begin assembling the flowers. Start with the largest piece, add hot glue to the center and adhere a cloth wrapped wire stem.

Allow the glue to dry, and then add two (2) adhesive foam squares to both sides of the stem. Adhere to the middle-sized flower shape on top of the foam adhesive.

Repeat for all of your flowers.

Decide how you would like the placement of the flowers in your egg carton craft to be.

Cut a small piece of Styrofoam to fit in each egg section that you would like a flower to be in. I chose to stagger my flowers.

I used hot glue to secure the pieces of Styrofoam. Adhere Spanish moss to each egg section with hot glue.

Decide how high you would like the flowers to be and trim accordingly. Insert the flowers into the styrofoam.

Trim the “stem” part of the die cut leaves, and add the leaves to the flower stems using a small amount of hot glue.

Wrap the leaves around the stem slightly, and bend them forward for dimension.

I wanted the lid of the egg carton craft to stand upright, so I attached the lid to the back of two flowers in the back, using a small amount of hot glue.

inish the flowers by adding rhinestones, buttons or adhesive gems to the flower centers.

Who would have guessed that an ordinary cardboard egg carton would make me so happy?

I hope you are inspired to hold onto your next egg carton and recycle it into an adorable addition to your home decor!
